Alrighty, here we are, in London. We had a gig with Honey Hellraiser last night and holy hell was it hot! The hottest one yet. We played a 14-song setlist and at least enjoyed it ourselves! Maybe some other did too… But anyways, the flight and all was fine and the hotel is fine and in great location, just a short walk away from, well basically anywhere, but the shit started to hit the fan the moment we took a cab from Heathrow.
I left my iPhone in the cab. Yeah, I never leave it and I’ve never left it anywhere and the one time I do, it happens halfway across Europe in a gigantic city with thousands and thousands of black taxis. I noticed it the moment we checked in to our hotel and immediately started to panic and ask the reception for any numbers to call for lost and found. I called a few numbers but I had no idea what the cab or it’s number was so no luck there. I have a MobileMe account and I’ve activated the Find My iPhone service, but since I turned off the data roaming, I guess, it couldn’t find the phone and deliver the message to display or ever remote lock it. Back home, my father tried to call my number and the taxi driver found my phone from the back seat but didn’t manage to answer it on time. He was already back at Heathrow 30 or so kilometres away. He tried to call back but at the same time I had called my operator and shut down my number so he didn’t get through. I had already given up and thought I’d never seen the phone so dear to me ever again. Suddenly the front desk called our room and asked me if I had lost anything. The driver had called our hotel and asked if anyone had reported something missing. I told the receptionist that yeah, I left my mobile phone in the taxi earlier and he told me that the driver will bring it back in an hour or so. That was such a relief! Gonna call the customer service tomorrow and reactivate my number.
So I got my phone back and of course gave the driver a small reward for being such a great guy and doing a bit more than his job. In other news we just had a delicious dinner and bought some bottled spring water from a nearby gas station. Sounds like rock’n'roll doesn’t it? Ok, gotta get some sleep. Some shopping and wandering around to do tomorrow. Fill you in later… Cheerio!
