London calling (pun intended)

Alrighty, here we are, in London. We had a gig with Honey Hellraiser last night and holy hell was it hot! The hottest one yet. We played a 14-song setlist and at least enjoyed it ourselves! Maybe some other did too… But anyways, the flight and all was fine and the hotel is fine and in great location, just a short walk away from, well basically anywhere, but the shit started to hit the fan the moment we took a cab from Heathrow.

I left my iPhone in the cab. Yeah, I never leave it and I’ve never left it anywhere and the one time I do, it happens halfway across Europe in a gigantic city with thousands and thousands of black taxis. I noticed it the moment we checked in to our hotel and immediately started to panic and ask the reception for any numbers to call for lost and found. I called a few numbers but I had no idea what the cab or it’s number was so no luck there. I have a MobileMe account and I’ve activated the Find My iPhone service, but since I turned off the data roaming, I guess, it couldn’t find the phone and deliver the message to display or ever remote lock it. Back home, my father tried to call my number and the taxi driver found my phone from the back seat but didn’t manage to answer it on time. He was already back at Heathrow 30 or so kilometres away. He tried to call back but at the same time I had called my operator and shut down my number so he didn’t get through. I had already given up and thought I’d never seen the phone so dear to me ever again. Suddenly the front desk called our room and asked me if I had lost anything. The driver had called our hotel and asked if anyone had reported something missing. I told the receptionist that yeah, I left my mobile phone in the taxi earlier and he told me that the driver will bring it back in an hour or so. That was such a relief! Gonna call the customer service tomorrow and reactivate my number.

So I got my phone back and of course gave the driver a small reward for being such a great guy and doing a bit more than his job. In other news we just had a delicious dinner and bought some bottled spring water from a nearby gas station. Sounds like rock’n'roll doesn’t it? Ok, gotta get some sleep. Some shopping and wandering around to do tomorrow. Fill you in later… Cheerio!

Welcome to the show!

Alright, you wanted the best, you got the… meh. Even so, I bid you welcome to my brand new home on the Internet. This website has been under consideration and construction in my head for a very, very long time, but finally I managed to kick myself in the ass big enough time and finish what I started ages ago. The purpose of this site is to be mainly a showcase of some of my work and productions and hopefully even get me some new clients to work with.

I’ve never been a blogger or even into blogging in general but now I thought maybe I should give it a try and I decided to publish this site on a dynamic blogging platform even though I’m yet to discover what I’m gonna write about here. Maybe I’ll just figure it out along the way or maybe I’ll just leave this as it is and never post a single entry ever again. I don’t know, maybe I’ll surprise even myself and make something nice and useful out of this. Don’t want to give too much of anything away, but I’m sure that if not anything else, this site will be a placeholder for my photography. Some day I’ll create a nice gallery section here and I’m gonna put some of those old photos up for you to view. Just now I’m a bit too tired for that and for now, I’ll just tell and write about things I think are cool and important to me. You can sort of check and review those things from the Tags-section on the right-side pane. Sometimes, mostly depending on the context or if I’m just not up to too much of thinking, I’m sure I’ll just simply write in Finnish.

There’s a lot of interesting things happening right now. Like next week, we’re gonna fly to London, UK with Susanna and have a whole week of vacation there. It’s been almost four years since my last visit there, so it’s gonna be really cool. The one thing I’m really excited about, is that hopefully I’m gonna be able to finally get me an Apple iPad. It’s not available yet here in Finland, but I really, really want one (most probably 32GB Wi-FI+3G), so I’ll have buy it from somewhere else. And next week I’m gonna be somewhere else, so why not! I’m definitely gonna write from the road and give updates about the availability of the device. Oh and the new iPhone 4…? That’s another story. I think I’m gonna play safe and wait Sonera’s announcement on their contracts and plans on that. But let me tell you, the Gear Acquisition Syndrome is once again monstrous. Like the time I really wanted to play with Gibson Thunderbird…

Speaking of basses and playing, not too much happening right now with the band. We’ve written some new kickass songs (some working titles: Another Round, One For The Road, Love F***s, Mau-mau, Mega Man and Homewrecker II) and planning hitting the studio this fall to record an extended play consisting of 5-6 or so tracks. Some of them old, some of them brand new. Next Sunday (July 25) we’re gonna play in Ravintola Rautaruukki, Karkkila at the Sunset Beach Party 2010 afterparty. This is gonna be the third year in row and it’s always been a pleasure. So come and check us out! Read, watch and listen to more about our band, Honey Hellraiser here!

Ok, so I think that’s all for now. Check back for possibly more entries in near future and tell your friends about this site by using the retweet and like buttons on these posts! If you want to tell me what’s broken and needs to be fixed or just generally what do you think about the site, just drop a line in the post comments. Thank you dudes and dudettes!

  1. Finish the work-section of this site
  2. Decide what book to read next
  3. Recharge the batteries for various gadgets
  4. Get a haircut tomorrow
  5. Fly to London and have a great week!
